Pathway of Power Origins

Since ancient times there have been select groups of men and women who devoted their entire lives to developing human potential.  Be it in the Yogi’s of India, the Daoist Martial Artists of China or the Shamans of the Americas, there is no shortage of ancient technologies to turn on human potential.

In our modern age pioneers like Tony Robbins, Tim Ferriss and Dave Asperry have begun to study and model how the elite performers, visionaries, entrepreneurs and leaders of our time are able to reliably buck the trends and show up at their best on demand.

The Pathway of Power is an elegant system based on both the wisdom of the ancient traditions and the research of modern neuroscience.   From the surface these traditions may appear worlds apart and yet when you get under the hood they share the same engine of the human heart, human mind and human body.

Both the ancient wisdom traditions and the modern research reveal 6 Gates by which one can reclaim their innate divinity and begin to truly live with their primal power turned back on.

The Pathway Of Power is composed of six Gates or Entrances.  Each of these areas of practice in their own right  can amplify someone's health, quality of life and peak performance.  Together they are profoundly powerful and can be combined for maximum results.

The Shadow Gate

This is where it all begins.  With the amount of information available to us at an all time high, it is far to easy for us to be satisfied with surface level knowledge rather than experiential understanding.  Even for many who have taken on substantial personal growth and self inquiry, there exists an innate tendency to get trapped in the jargon and methods without actually applying them.  The methods themselves can become a trap without deep self awareness.

The goal of working with the shadow is to integrate and come to know and accept all of those parts that we have attempted to hide or run from.

Shadow Work is a way of uncovering our psychological blind spots so they don’t sabotage our efforts unconsciously.  Without Shadow Work, all good methods can fail no matter how well researched or practiced.

The Meditation Gate

A close second in importance is the gate of mindfulness and meditation.   Tim Ferriss, best selling author of The Four Hour Work Week and Tools of The Titans, through multiple podcast interviews, digs into the tactics, routines, mind sets and habits of high performers. He includes entertainers, chess players, scientists and professional athletes. The most common habit of all these elite performers from different fields is Meditation.

If you desire to create anything in life you will need to consistently bring your focus back to that goal.  Billions of dollars are being spent to attract our attention through advertising, social media, smart phones, smart TV’s and our computers, making our attention the most valued commodity in a world built to attract and distract.    With the general human attention span shrinking as you read this, Meditation is a scientifically proven way to counter the cultural ADHD that plagues our time.

Included in this gate is Mindfulness, the practice of maintaining heightened awareness of one's thoughts, emotions, and actions on a moment to moment basis.   If you are able to catch yourself before you react, you will avoid making poor decisions in an unconscious emotional state.  Mindfulness can save massive amounts wasted time and energy, which can be directed to harmonious relationships and successful businesses.   Meditation and Mindfulness both have a plethora of health benefits in addition to increasing our capacity to be more effective in our work.

The Noble Movement Gate

The gyms are full of people working on their biceps, abs and butts.  While developing those muscles has some benefit, the non-integrated approach to exercise will not have a strong impact on longevity or quality of life.

Noble movement uses the latest in exercise science to provide customized whole body workouts that use as little as 4 minutes and 20 seconds to achieve maximum efficacy.  Noble Movements strengthen specific muscle groups while lengthening others. They provide cardiovascular training without overly stressing the body systems.  Most importantly these exercises are infused with the deeper intentions of the practitioner so the ability to get through the next rep correlates with staying on task during the work day.

Combined with other gates on the Pathway of Power, Noble Movement helps us get in touch with the emotions stored in our tissues so we can dissolve stress before it becomes our next pound of fat, or worse yet, some physical disease.

The Breathwork Gate

Made popular by superhuman Wim Hof, breathwork has become a part of the training for executives, athletes and speakers alike. When we control our breath we control our heart rate. When we can influence our heart rate we can begin to control our brainwave state.

Any Gate on the pathway of power can multiply a person's capacity to focus, maintain sustained energy and massively influence their performance in any area of life.  However, Breathwork may be the quickest return on investment. The breath is at the very center of the human experience as it is one of the only functions of the human body that is both conscious and unconscious.  Skillful breath work turns anxiety into excitement, lethargy into motivation and muddied negative emotions into clear equanimity.

Breathwork techniques hard earned from eastern alchemical traditions and verified by modern science are the most accessible, powerful and easy to use tools to give each of us the ability to choose our state on demand.

The nourishment Gate

Since the beginning of history humans have ingested substances for sustaining their lives and altering their consciousness.  In this gate on the pathway of power we look into the various herbs, supplements and foods that are making a difference in health and peak performance.

We often refer to this gate as Adaptogens, Entheogens and Nootropics.    When we speak of these, we are talking about Nourishment not only to the body, but also the mental, emotional and spiritual aspects of a human.  The wise would not overlook these as they have the ability to lead one into the deeper potentials in human nature.  Ultimately our relationship with food, herbs and drugs will often predict success or failure in other areas of life.

Adaptogens: are a relatively new class of herb/food in our culture.  They are dual directional substances that increase our ability to deal with the stresses of life.  To be an adaptogen a substance must meet three important criteria;  it must be completely non toxic, it has to provide a non-specific increase in our ability to deal with stress, it is generally known to have additional positive effects on overall health.  Incorporating them into our lives can add both to our daily performance and our lasting longevity.  Adaptogens help us adapt to any situation in life with grace.

Entheogens:  These are by far the most controversial.  The word Entheogen points to a substance that creates the experience of the divine from within.  These are the cornerstones of shamanic traditions and also responsible for much of the human potential movement in our world today.  Many people don’t realize that William James, considered the father of psychology, explored the use of various substances that altered consciousness.   The use of LSD, MDMA and Psilocybin is now being re-searched further.  When used appropriately, many studies show behavioral modification successes that make current pharmaceutical approaches seem crude and unusual.

The Pathway of Power explores the values, risks and appropriateness of these substances on an indivindual basis.    Keep in mind that fasting, breathing, meditating and exercise can all induce altered entheogenic states. Yet none as reliably as the substances mentioned above.  As a result they offer a powerful pathway to growth and enhanced performance when used appropriately (with reverence and time for integration).

Nootropics also known as "cognitive enhancers" or "smart drugs" are substances that lead to increased capacity for cognitive functioning.  They help us focus to accomplish more. Nootropics come from both the synthetic pharmaceutical world, the world of supplements and the world of herbs and food.  Like entheogens, they have their own set of risks and best practices.

These make up a single gate because one substance can produce a sense of well being and faith within, while also increasing our ability to focus and helping us deal with stress.  A substance can be an Adaptogen, Entheogen and Nootropic in one. Everything you do in life is either promoting or detracting from your connection to  a higher power, your ability to think, focus and your overall longevity.  This is a powerful gate.

The Heart Intelligence Flow Gate

This is where the pathway of power leads all the great ones.  This is evident by recent studies showing that the EQ (Emotional Quotient) is a better predictor of success than one's IQ (Intelligence Quotient).  Dealing effectively with our emotions is a key component to success in all areas of life.  Skillfully handling and using emotions allows us to enjoy the process of getting things done.  This makes life more enjoyable and allows us to develop perseverance needed to work toward bigger dreams and long term goals.

Heart Intelligence is built on empowered communication, self awareness and the understanding that the heart's magnetic field has a massive impact on our overall health and cognitive functions.

When we learn to quickly and consciously improve our Heart Rate Variability, we are able to consciously modulate our brainwave state and nervous system.   This creates enhanced cognitive performance and longer life.

Recent advances in neuro-science have allowed us to map the human brain when in a state of flow. This has led to the discovery of four unique qualities that most human beings crave by default;  Selflessness, Timelessness, Effortlessness,  and Richness.  Flow states are moments where attention is not solely on oneself, time slows down, the task at hand is completed with a high level of ease while depth and beauty are perceived.

The corporate world has become ravenously interested in the ability to access flow states because this state increases productivity by 40-60%.  Imagine being able to get your entire work week done in 3 days? This adds up to big impacts on company profits.

The military has also seen the massive cost of training Navy Seals fail to pay back when the vast majority can’t make it into the most elite teams.  The ability to sync up with the team like a school of fish is of the highest value when lives are on the line and milliseconds count.  This is what the Navy Seal created a Mind Gym using HRV monitors to keep teams of seals in synced up brainwave states while doing physical training.

On the pathway of power we use both brainwave and HRV monitors in the program to train ourselves for the battle of our lives.   So that we can show up peacefully, poised and ready for anything at work, in our relationships and for ourselves.

Never has the path to health, peak performance and longevity been more accessible, more badass and more important than right now.
